Smoky Hill Engineering seeks an MPE Quality Control (QC) Manager to oversee mainly Electrical QC with some Mechanical and Plumbing activities for our growing Data Center business. This role requires a strong technical background in mission-critical environments and proven leadership to deliver projects meeting strict safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- QC Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain the MPE Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and industry best practices (e.g., Uptime Institute).
- Inspection and Testing: Lead all field inspections. Witness major MPE equipment testing (FATs, SATs). Verify installation work meets project standards before turnover.
- Documentation Control: Manage and verify all QC records, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), testing reports, commissioning documents, punch lists, and closeout records.
- Team Leadership: Supervise the MPE QC team. Coordinate QC efforts with construction teams, subcontractors, and commissioning agents.
- Issue Resolution: Identify non-conforming work. Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process. Implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all QC activities adhere to regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in MPE quality control. At least 2 years in a management or lead role on large-scale Data Center projects.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of Data Center MPE systems:
- Electrical: UPS, generators, switchgear, MV/LV distribution, grounding.
- Knowledge of NEC and other electrical codes
- Certifications: Relevant QC/QA certifications (ASQ, ISO) are beneficial.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and leadership ability. Proficiency with QC documentation software.
