What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Specialist position at Smokin Joes?
We seek a highly skilled and detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to join our team. Your position will ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Knowledge of mulitple state retailers, dealers, and vendor licensing and taxation process. Ability to process documents in order to obtain licenses specifically in the tobacco industry. Knowledge of regulatory and tax obligations and deadlines to ensure timely submissions. Understanding of federal excise taxes, and ability to efficiently respond to Department assessments and notices.
Duties:
- Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Prepare regulatory reports and filings accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide guidance and training to employees on regulatory matters
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging regulations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years experience in related field
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance, i.e. law firm, banking/financial services, healthcare industry
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
