What are the responsibilities and job description for the MIG Welder/Fabricator position at Smittys Custom Welding?
Established welding and RV repair shop in Houston is looking to hire a skilled Welder / Fabricator who also has mechanical experience. We’re looking for someone dependable who can handle a variety of fabrication jobs along with installation and repair work.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG/TIG welding on steel and aluminum
- Custom fabrication (brackets, frames, reinforcements, modifications)
- Diagnose and complete mechanical repairs
- Install suspension components (shocks, springs, sway bars, steering stabilizers)
- Work on RVs, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment
- Read measurements, plans, and work independently when needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Requirements:
- Proven welding and fabrication experience
- Basic to intermediate mechanical skills
- Ability to use shop tools and fabrication equipment
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with RV repairs or upgrades
- Knowledge of Koni shocks, Sumo springs, or suspension systems
- Ability to do mobile/on-site work
