The Program Specialist fulfills the role of confidential assistant/liaison for the Associate Director, supporting the operational functions of the office through oral and written reports and proposals.

Basic Qualification: Experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
In Addition To The Basic Qualification Requirement Above
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience serving as an assistant and advisor managing operational logistics in a museum, college or university, historical or cultural institution, nonprofit organization or corporation; responding to inquiries in writing; maintaining calendar of meetings/events; reviewing documents to ensure grammatical correctness; managing multiple projects/programs; making travel arrangements and processing travel documents; communicating orally with key stakeholders.
Your resume must be no more than two (2) pages and should clearly demonstrate how your experience aligns with the responsibilities and specialized experience required for this position. The Program Specialist fulfills the role of confidential assistant/liaison for the Associate Director, supporting the operational functions of the office through oral and written reports and proposals.
In This Position, You Will
- serve as the principal assistant and advisor providing advice in the review, evaluation and coordination of all activities and assignments requiring the attention of the Associate Director;
- conduct research, draft documents, and/or other materials to assist in preparing the Associate Director for meetings, discussions, presentations, conferences, etc.;
- compose and review correspondence and prepare necessary papers, documents, proposals for the Associate Director’s review;
- be responsible for serving as liaison between the Associate Director and Director and key departments within NMAAHC and SI. Arrange a variety of conferences and meetings.
- keep the calendar for the Associate Director and establish priorities with minimal direction. Maintain regular interaction with direct reports and key leaders.
