PRIMARY FUNCTION:     

Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes and structures, while delivering evidence-based interventions to identified students to improve academic and behavioral outcomes.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess or qualify for a VA collegiate professional license w/ an endorsement in Elementary Education 
  2. Minimum of 5 years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience, including teaching linguistically diverse students. 
  3. Demonstrated ability to transfer scientifically-based research instructional strategies, including strategies to increase language production, into classroom instruction
  4. Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  5. Experience collecting, visualizing, and acting on student formative assessment data to alter instruction and student learning outcomes
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of instruction and curriculum development, current theory, instructional  practices, and various assessment strategies
  7. Experience working with diverse learning needs.
  8. Proficiency with Google Suite, email, and information system applications.
  9. Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families, administration, co-workers, and the community.
  10. Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  11. Familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks. Models non-discriminatory and cultural inclusion practices in all activities. Respects the worth, dignity, and individual beliefs of others.
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities, to foster professional relationships and express and/or exchange ideas.
  13. Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and the community.
  14. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments to improve instructional practices

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collaborates with Principals, MTSS Coordinator, and Content Coordinators to ensure high-quality Tier 1 instruction and determine instructional support needs (including providing intervention if needed)
  2. Works with administrators and teachers to analyze student data and determine the instructional needs of students 
  3. Organizing and monitoring Tier 2 interventions provided by teachers 
  4. Providing Tier 3 supports to individuals or very small groups of students in specific content 
  5. Facilitating SIT and other MTSS team meetings as assigned by the principal
  6. Engaging in MTSS-specific professional development to provide shared leadership to the framework 
    1. Fidelity of Tier 1 programming 
    2. Collaboration of providers 
    3. Intensifying interventions 
    4. Progress monitoring
  7. Serves as a role model by developing and effectively maintaining professional boundaries with staff and students
  8. Serves as a role model for others as an educational leader by demonstrating good attendance, punctuality, appearance, demeanor, dress, and behavior
  9. Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions, including non-discriminatory and cultural inclusion practices by respecting the worth, dignity, and individual beliefs of others.
  10. Participate in professional development of self and others, including school and division staff development, some of which occurs during the summer 
  11. Takes all industry standard precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  12. Maintains appropriate state licensure; assumes responsibility for and participates in staff development (professional growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
  13. Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
  14. Actively participates in and attends all required  meetings 
  15. Maintains confidentiality in all matters
  16. Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations, procedures and the HCPS Strategic Plan.
  17. Effectively performs other duties as assigned by the Principal 
  18. Effectively communicates with students, parents and the community.
  19. Provides appropriate feedback to students
  20. Uses measures of student learning to improve instruction.
  21. Models professional, moral and ethical standards and personal integrity.
  22. Participates in a meaningful and continuous process of professional development.
  23. Works in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, staff, parents and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population.
  24. Provides services to the profession, the school division and/or the community.
  25. Demonstrates good attendance and punctuality.
  26. Submits required reports on time and meets other deadlines.
  27. Maintains accurate records.
  28. Follows proper channels of communication.
  29. Appropriately maintains confidentiality.
  30. Assists in the coordination and modeling of the best practices for reading and math instruction.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.  Regular travel throughout the school and effectively interact with students, staff, and community members.  Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Occasional travel with students on field trips as necessary.  Attendance at evening and weekend student or staff activities, Parent Teacher Organization meetings, and other functions, as required.  Regular contact with staff members and parents/guardians is required.  Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. 

 

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of administrative or licensed personnel.
