The Detroit office of SmithGroup is looking for a Lighting Design Intern to join our team.
Working with us, you will:
SmithGroup promotes a healthy work/life balance for our staff, as well as hybrid work options that give interns the flexibility to work within our vibrant office culture or remotely, as needed. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $24.00 to $25.00 per hour, at the time of posting. You are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week. Our 12-week summer internships are held between May-August. We encourage you to apply early as our internship positions tend to fill quickly. The Detroit office of SmithGroup is looking for a Lighting Design Intern to join our team.
Working with us, you will:
- Work on integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
- Produce electrical design drawings using the latest design software.
- Compile data and prepare design solutions.
- Prepare calculations utilizing AG132 software.
- Participate in design meetings.
- Receive mentorship from experienced lighting design professionals.
- Visit a construction site(s) and/or completed project sites.
- Completed at least their sophomore year or have graduate standing in an accredited electrical engineering, architectural engineering or lighting design program by the time of the internship.
- Relevant course work in lighting design along with an interest in lighting within the building industry.
- Some experience with current design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, AGI32 and the Microsoft Office Suite.
