Job Overview
We are seeking a part-time dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to provide a safe and nurturing environment for pets. As a Kennel Technician, you will be responsible for cleaning kennels and dog yards, rotating and walking dogs, and helping with the care and feeding of dogs.
Duties
- Provide daily care for dogs
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to ops manager
- Handle animals safely and effectively, using proper techniques for restraint and transport.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks related to animal care, such as moving supplies or larger animals
Requirements
- Experience in animal handling or care is preferred; previous work in a kennel or veterinary setting is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with colleagues and volunteers.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed (up to 50 pounds).
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their well-being.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if necessary.
- Certification as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician is advantageous but not required.
- Experience in pet sitting or similar roles can be considered an asset.
