What are the responsibilities and job description for the Showroom Consultant position at Smithfield Plumbing & Heating Supply?
Responsibilities
- Engage with customers in the showroom to understand their renovation, remodeling, or interior design needs, providing expert advice on fixtures, accessories , and various plumbing materials.
- Demonstrate products effectively through product demos and displays, highlighting features and benefits to upsell additional items.
- Negotiate sales terms and pricing to meet customer needs while achieving monthly sales targets.
- Manage inside sales activities including POS transactions, cash handling, and retail math calculations to ensure accurate billing and inventory control.
- Support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and maintaining a clean, inviting showroom environment
- Collaborate with team members on marketing initiatives and client account management to promote new products and special promotions.
- Foster, build and maintain key client relationships through consistent follow-up, showroom event participation, and outreach efforts.
- Coordinate & communicate product receiving & delivery with clients, troubleshooting issues accordingly.
- Place product POs, checking internal stock status and liaising with vendors to confirm availability and pricing as necessary.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of product offerings, partaking in vendor events and trainings when available.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail sales within the home improvement or interior design industry.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with persuasive communication abilities to upsell products effectively.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to handle POS systems, cash handling, and retail math accurately
- Quick and eager learner.
- Exceptional organizational skills for stock management, merchandising, and maintaining showroom presentation standards.
- Strong knowledge of design, layout planning, renovation processes, and construction fundamentals.
- Experience using an ERP system, preferred.
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
