Key Responsibilities
Analytical Testing & Method Development
- Perform advanced testing of cannabis samples using analytical platforms such as HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and microbial systems.
- Lead method development, optimization, and validation projects to support new and existing assays.
- Troubleshoot complex instrument and method issues, implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Ensure accurate data analysis, interpretation, and reporting in compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Train and mentor Laboratory Analysts and Technicians on instrumentation, methods, and best practices.
- Review and approve analytical data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards.
- Provide technical expertise during audits, client inquiries, and regulatory inspections.
- Act as a resource for problem-solving and process improvements across the laboratory team.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements, including proficiency testing and quality control programs.
- Maintain instrument calibration, preventative maintenance, and detailed records for audit readiness.
- Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives.
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements in all laboratory operations.
- Collaborate with Laboratory Manager on workflow optimization and resource planning.
- Assist in writing and revising SOPs and technical documents.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to laboratory strategic goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related scientific field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory, with at least 2 years of direct hands-on experience operating HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, or microbial testing platforms.
- Prior experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, food safety, or cannabis testing) required.
- Demonstrated experience in method development and validation strongly preferred.
- Deep technical knowledge of analytical instrumentation and testing methodologies.
- Strong data interpretation and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication abilities.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and LIMS software.
- Must meet the minimum legal age requirement to work with cannabis in the state of operation.
- Ability to pass a background check in accordance with applicable laws.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform laboratory tasks requiring fine motor skills.
- Laboratory setting with exposure to solvents, chemicals, and cannabis-related odors.
- Extended periods of standing, pipetting, and repetitive motions.
- Full-time schedule; may require occasional evenings or weekends to meet deadlines, support audits, or address client needs.
