An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced qualitative mass spectroscopist to join the Environmental Fate and Metabolism department within Environmental Risk Sciences (ERS) Limited Division of Smithers based in Harrogate.
Smither ERS Limited provides a wide range of environmental safety testing services for the pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial and specialty chemical, and personal care industries. Our team includes experienced scientists and technicians offering a broad range of skills and areas of expertise.
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Fate and Metabolism, the individual will be working as part of an established team, using best in class analytical equipment in purpose-built facilities. All work will be conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and specifically those regulations (GLP) specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved.
Responsibilities
- Lead, design and deliver qualitative mass spectrometry solutions
- Provide technical support and excellence across the department
- Help and advise study directors to overcome analytical challenges
- Ensure effective delivery of business targets for internal and external customers
- Drive quality and innovation as part of a problem-solving culture
- Advise on introduction of new analytical techniques to support regulatory requirements and business growth
- Represent the company at external conferences and working groups as required
- Line management of assigned staff including performance reviews and goal setting
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum BSc or equivalent in Chemistry, or a related subject
- Relevant practical experience in a CRO environment, including working with quality systems (GLP, GMP)
- Demonstrated expertise in structural identification of small molecules
- Depth and breadth of knowledge in chromatographic techniques
- Knowledge of environmental fate and/or metabolism regulatory study types is preferred
