Project Manager - Plumbing & HVAC

Smith & Wilkinson is partnering with a well-established, third-generation family-owned mechanical contractor to find an experienced HVAC Mechanical Project Manager.

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating commercial HVAC mechanical construction projects from initial planning through completion. This individual will oversee all phases of assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within scope, and within budget.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of HVAC mechanical construction, project scheduling, blueprint interpretation, subcontractor coordination, and construction management technology. Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of HVAC mechanical construction projects while maintaining project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure efficient project execution.
• Collaborate with general contractors to develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, proactively addressing potential delays or conflicts.
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical drawings to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements.
• Manage procurement activities, including estimating, contracts, equipment and material purchasing, and coordination with vendors and suppliers.
• Oversee jobsite activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements, quality standards, contractual obligations, and project specifications.
• Utilize construction management platforms such as Procore and Bluebeam to manage RFIs, submittals, documentation, drawings, and project progress.
• Conduct regular project meetings to communicate updates, identify potential challenges, resolve issues, and maintain alignment among project stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including change orders, daily reports, schedules, cost information, and closeout packages.
• Manage project resources and priorities to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor project financial performance and identify opportunities to control costs and protect project profitability.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing HVAC, mechanical, or related commercial construction projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes, jobsite operations, and project lifecycle management.
• Experience with construction estimating, contract administration, budgeting, procurement, and project scheduling.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HeavyBid, or comparable platforms.
• Strong understanding of construction safety requirements, quality assurance, and contract compliance.
• Experience managing large-scale commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical projects is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coordinate clients, contractors, field personnel, vendors, and internal teams.
