What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stone Cutter / Polisher / Installer position at Smith Monument Works?
Our company cuts and polishes granite, marble, and limestone to make fine memorials and superior quality architectural stone for residential and commercial projects. We're looking for a co-worker who is available immediately for full-time employment.
We are a small shop and there's a wide variety of things that we do: We handle heavy piece of stone, so you must be mindful of safety. We break, saw, chip, mill, and polish stone pieces to our customers' high expectations, so you must be quality-oriented. We engrave names and dates which will last forever, so you must be attentive to details. We do our best to let machines do all the hard work, but sometimes we have to break a sweat.
Dependability is a must. We handle heavy workpieces and we have been injury-free for years; if you have impairment issues, it won't work. We use machines as much as we can to do the heavy lifting but you'd still need to be able push or manipulate heavy items sometimes.
We are the only manufacturer of monuments in Kentucky and the only dimensional stone fabrication shop in this area, so we don't expect candidates to have experience specific to our work. If you enjoy working with your hands and your brain to create things of beauty, then we might be a great fit.
We're easy to get along with, we try to do fun stuff, and even the boring stuff is rewarding! We prefer that you reply via email with or without a resume BEFORE calling or visiting in person. We are looking for a full-time permanent hire but we're willing to discuss part-time work if you're able to schedule it.
