We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Charge RN for our Pre-Op/PACU department to lead and support daily clinical operations while delivering exceptional patient care. This role is responsible for coordinating patient flow, supporting nursing staff, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, and promoting a safe and efficient perioperative experience for patients and families.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and clinical oversight for Pre-Op and PACU nursing staff during assigned shifts
Coordinate daily patient flow and staffing assignments to ensure efficient surgical operations
Deliver direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, IV starts, monitoring, and recovery care as needed
Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and respond appropriately to changes in condition or emergencies
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and assist with problem-solving and conflict resolution
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols
Assist with scheduling, staffing adjustments, and department workflow management
Support patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental training activitiy
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
BLS and ACLS certifications required
PALS certification preferred (if applicable to facility/patient population)
Minimum of 3–5 years of Pre-Op, PACU, or perioperative nursing experience preferred
Previous charge nurse or leadership experience strongly preferred
Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
