GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY: The GRIT TECH internship will support GRIT TECH activities. Primary responsibilities will be processing sample material received from grit testing or received from customers. This work will be done in the GRIT TECH lab. Other areas of duties and responsibilities will be assigned as needed to support the department. Lab data analysis and report documentation as directed by manager of the department. Preparing and maintaining grit testing equipment and lab equipment.
Specific Duties
EDUCATION: Enrolled in a two (2) or four (4) year post high school education program. Concentration in environmental, engineering, science, construction management, business, or marketing.
EXPERIENCE: Relevant work history, internships, or volunteer roles that demonstrate the candidate's skills and qualifications for the position. Transferable Skills: Such as communication, problem-solving, or technical proficiency, even if they were gained in different fields.
SKILLS & ABILITIES: Excellent analytical ability; effective interpersonal communication, technical writing, and presentation skills; ability to communicate with other team members to assist in the selection and implementation of testing; ability to understand costing, markup and discounts to develop pricing strategy; ability to read and understand project specifications and drawings; very good goal setting and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to sit, stand, and walk. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Reach with hands and arms. Required to talk and hear consistently. Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to fifty (50) pounds if necessary. Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.
EQUIPMENT: Experience with PC, phone, calculator, multimeter, calipers, copier, and general hand tools.
OTHER: Potential travel if deemed appropriate.

- Lab Processing: Process samples received for grit analysis. Record data for report documentation.
- Lab Data Analysis: Input lab data results into analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel) to determine resulting of lab testing to be used in final report documentation.
- Project Pricing: Prepare project pricing under guidance of GRIT TECH Coordinator for project proposals.
- Project Documentation: Support GRIT TECH Coordinator in creating the following documents.
- Project proposals.
- Test plans.
- Final project reports.
- Record Retention: File project documentation according to SOPs.
- General Duties: Perform the following duties as needed.
- Maintain grit testing and lab equipment.
- Prepare grit shipping crate for deployment to job site.
- Support Engineering in operation of GRRC for demonstrations.
- Occasional assigned tasks from other S&L departments if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
