The Electrical Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects and seeing through completion. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, labor requirements, materials, and subcontractor pricing to support profitable project execution and successful bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial projects.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare submittal packages, including scope clarifications and exclusions
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams during bid preparation
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives
- Assist with post-bid reviews and project handoff meetings
- Ensure estimates comply with company and client standards, codes, and contract requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- 3 years of experience as an Electrical Project Manager/Estimator or similar role
- Strong understanding of electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, etc.)
- Strong understanding of NFPA70 and 70E regulations
- Proficiency with estimating software (Bluebeam, or similar)
- Proficiency in Excel, word, and outlook
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of labor units, material pricing, and market conditions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with design-building and negotiated projects
- Familiarity with NEC and local electrical codes
- Understanding of project scheduling and construction sequencing
- Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
