What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Instructor of Education and Child Study position at Smith College?
The Department of Education and Child Study at Smith College invites applications for a one-year, benefits eligible (⅝ FTE) position at the rank of Lab Instructor to begin July 1, 2025. This position supports our undergraduate and graduate licensure programs by coordinating K–12 fieldwork placements, sustaining partnerships with local schools, supervising course field-work experiences, and teaching field-based practicum labs. They will also lead school partnership development, manage placement logistics, and mentor pre-service teachers in connecting course content with field experiences. Other courses may be taught depending upon the candidate’s field of specialization. Candidates should have a strong foundation in K-12 teaching/teacher education and candidates with experience in coordinating or teaching fieldwork or practica, MA licensure or licensure eligibility, at least three years teaching in k-12 settings and familiarity with liberal arts college teaching contexts are encouraged to apply. Master’s degree in education, teaching or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in teaching and teacher education are encouraged to apply.
