The Contract & Coverage Advisor is responsible for providing support to the agency and its clients by reviewing contracts, advising on insurance coverage, managing risk transfer strategies, providing claims support, and conducting insurance due diligence in our Financial Sponsor practice for portfolio companies during M&A transactions. This role combines technical expertise in policy language with consultative client service to deliver accurate, compliant, and comprehensive insurance solutions.

The Contract & Coverage Advisor is responsible for providing support to the agency and its clients by reviewing contracts, advising on insurance coverage, managing risk transfer strategies, providing claims support, and conducting insurance due diligence in our Financial Sponsor practice for portfolio companies during M&A transactions. This role combines technical expertise in policy language with consultative client service to deliver accurate, compliant, and comprehensive insurance solutions.
Responsibilities & What You’ll Be Doing
- Review, analyze, and provide guidance on insurance policy language across all lines for accuracy, compliance, and potential risks.
- Advise clients and internal teams on contract interpretations and issues related to insurance programs.
- Build and maintain best in class library of Risk Transfer language to facilitate clients’ implementation of their contracts.
- Support claims by providing coverage counsel and assisting in insurer negotiations when necessary.
- Review the agency’s own contracts with carriers and vendors.
- Manage day-to-day activities of contract and coverage review and keep detailed records in agency management system.
- Conduct P&C due diligence efforts for Financial Sponsor transactions, summarize risks for deal teams, and recommend post close insurance solutions using established tools.
- Participate in client meetings or calls to explain exposures and insurance implications.
- Monitor regulatory changes impacting insurance, contracts, and agency business practices and update stakeholders accordingly.
- Work on projects and other work as assigned.
- Use technology and implement AI into workflows for efficiency and client experience.
- Build relationships with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with agency processes, confidentiality standards, and quality metrics.
- Stay current on industry trends, products, and regulatory changes.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through internal training and learning opportunities.
- Review, update, and contribute to processes improvement and workflow design as assigned/needed.
- Work on projects and other work as assigned.
- Demonstrate alignment with our purpose, values, and culture.
- 2 years in contract review, risk management, or legal compliance (insurance industry preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field. Law degree a plus.
- Understanding of insurance contracts across all lines of P&C business.
- Knowledge of risk management strategies, indemnity clauses, and regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical skills and structured problem solving approach.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills for interacting with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to influence across levels and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving contract requirements and regulations.
- Strong MS Office skills and experience with agency management systems.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
