About the Role:

The IVIG Infusion Nurse plays a critical role in delivering high-quality intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy to patients with immune deficiencies and other related conditions. This position requires administering IVIG infusions safely and effectively while closely monitoring patients for adverse reactions and ensuring their comfort throughout the treatment process. The nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families about IVIG therapy, potential side effects, and post-infusion care to promote adherence and positive health outcomes. Ultimately, the IVIG Infusion Nurse contributes to improving patients' quality of life by providing compassionate, expert care in a clinical or outpatient setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in infusion therapy or related clinical settings.
  • Strong knowledge of IVIG therapy, immunology basics, and patient monitoring techniques.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically administering IVIG infusions in outpatient or hospital settings.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI).
  • Experience working with patients with immunodeficiency disorders or autoimmune diseases.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and infusion documentation software.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer IVIG infusions according to established protocols and physician orders.
  • Monitor patients continuously during infusion for any signs of adverse reactions or complications and respond promptly as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of infusion procedures, patient responses, and any interventions performed.
  • Educate patients and their families on IVIG therapy, including preparation, potential side effects, and post-infusion care instructions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to assess patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety regulations during all infusion procedures.
  • Manage inventory and proper storage of IVIG products and related supplies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in infusion nursing.
