The Smilo Foundation is a rapidly growing nonprofit dedicated to empowering cancer patients and caregivers through education, advocacy, and access to information. With a growing online community reaching millions of people, we are building tools, resources, and support systems designed to help patients better understand their diagnosis and explore all available treatment options.
Role Description
This is a primarily virtual internship with flexible scheduling. Occasional in-person attendance may be requested for team meetings, launch events, donor outreach activities, content creation, and other special projects in the Holmdel, NJ area. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, comfortable working independently, and excited to gain hands-on experience helping build a rapidly growing nonprofit organization focused on empowering cancer patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities
- Marketing & Digital Media
- Make updates and edits to our Squarespace website
- Create graphics, presentations, and marketing materials using Canva
- Assist with email marketing campaigns through Mailchimp
- Help manage and grow our TikTok presence
- Assist in creating and maintaining our YouTube channel
- Manage LinkedIn content and posting schedules
- Track, analyze, and report on website and social media performance metrics
- Coordinate and publish monthly blog content
- Operations & Administrative Support
- Create and manage Jotforms
- Assist with Google Workspace setup and administration
- Manage and coordinate Zoom meetings and virtual events
- Support launch event planning and execution
- Assist with donor outreach materials, board member communications, and swag bag preparation
- Help maintain project plans and task lists for Smilo Foundation initiatives
- Work directly with leadership to prioritize and execute projects
Experience with the following is a plus, but not required:
- Canva
- Google Workspace
- Microsoft Office

- LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook
Additional Requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Interest in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, healthcare, or entrepreneurship
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Some travel may be required
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends

Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Flexible). Some evening and occasional weekend availability may be required
Compensation: $16/hour
