Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics and orthodontics
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray and 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system Open Dental , including updating medical documentation and coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform chairside assisting tasks such as taking vital signs, medical history updates, and explaining procedures to patients in clear dental terminology
- Support administrative duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records efficiently
- Ensure all clinical areas adhere to infection control protocols, including sterilization of instruments and proper disposal of biohazard materials
Skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray, 3D scanning, and medical imaging procedures
- Familiarity with orthodontics and working with children in a clinical setting
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in four-handed dentistry setups
- Skills in infection control practices, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile environment
- Competence in taking vital signs
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages
- A proactive attitude with the ability to multitask effectively
- Orthodontics knowledge needed
- Bilingual
