Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Provide personalized dental care patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive measures, and post-treatment instructions.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using chairside assisting techniques with aseptic technique adherence.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure infection prevention management by following strict sterilization protocols and healthcare infection control standards.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental radiography.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on oral health practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance management, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, including aseptic techniques and infection prevention management practices.
