Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterile. Perform chairside assisting with precision, including taking and developing X-rays, operating dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners, and recording vital signs to monitor patient health. Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a clean, organized treatment area. Help with patient intake by reviewing medical documentation, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and addressing questions about treatment plans. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, confirm patient information, and manage medical coding for billing purposes. Ensure adherence to all safety standards related to anatomy knowledge, infection control, and HIPAA compliance while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
Skills
No experience required if willing to learn but experience preferred.
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and operating dental imaging tools such as 3D scanners. Experience with Open dental or Practice Web for managing medical records and documentation efficiently. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children to create a comforting environment. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, HIPAA regulations, and medical documentation standards. Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and support comprehensive patient care in general dentistry settings. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other clinical staff.
