Registered Dental Assistant – General Dentistry, Implants & Orthodontics
Smile Center of Covington is seeking a dependable, experienced, and professional Registered Dental Assistant to join our growing dental practice. Our office provides comprehensive general dentistry, implant dentistry, oral surgery, restorative procedures, and orthodontic treatment.
The ideal candidate will have strong general dental assisting skills, some orthodontic experience, and an interest in learning or expanding their experience with dental implants. This is a cross-trained position that also includes front-office responsibilities.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist with general, restorative, surgical, implant, and orthodontic procedures
- Assist with fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures, and other general dental procedures
- Set up and assist with dental implant placement and implant-related procedures
- Assist with surgical extractions and other oral surgery procedures
- Prepare patients and treatment rooms for procedures
- Take diagnostic-quality dental radiographs
- Take intraoral photographs, impressions, scans, and orthodontic records
- Assist with orthodontic bonding, adjustments, repairs, and debonding
- Review postoperative and home-care instructions with patients
- Follow sterilization, infection-control, and OSHA requirements
- Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation
- Clean, disinfect, set up, and break down treatment rooms
- Monitor and restock clinical and surgical supplies
- Help keep the clinical area clean, organized, and prepared
Front-Office Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming telephone calls professionally
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments
- Greet patients and assist with check-in and check-out
- Enter and update patient information
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits
- Collect copayments, deductibles, and patient balances
- Explain basic treatment costs and available payment options
- Scan and upload insurance cards, identification, consent forms, and other documents
- Make confirmation, recall, and missed-appointment calls
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Dental Assistant credential
- Current dental radiography certification, as required
- Strong general dental assisting experience
- Some orthodontic assisting experience preferred
- Implant or oral surgery assisting experience preferred, but training may be provided
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures
- Comfortable assisting with front-office duties
- Able to answer phones, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and collect payments
- Professional, dependable, punctual, and organized
- Strong communication and patient-service skills
- Able to multitask and work efficiently in a growing practice
- Willing to learn new procedures, technology, and dental software
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the office
- Ability to safely lift and carry clinical supplies and equipment as needed
Important Position Information:
Because this is a new and growing dental office, flexibility and teamwork are essential. This is not a chairside-only position. The employee will be expected to assist with both clinical and front-office responsibilities according to the daily needs of the practice.
