Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information to ensure accuracy and completeness before submitting claims
- Utilize DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately code procedures and diagnoses
- Prepare and submit electronic or paper insurance claims using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, performing medical collections as needed to secure reimbursement
- Maintain detailed medical records and billing documentation in compliance with privacy regulations and office policies
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve claim issues, appeals, or discrepancies
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations relevant to dental practices
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a dental or healthcare setting with familiarity in dental insurance procedures
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record management
- Excellent understanding of medical collection processes and insurance claim workflows
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper billing and coding purposes
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with insurance providers, patients, and team members
