Quality workmanship, workplace safety and commitment to our customers is our recipe for success. We are currently hiring an experienced Project Manager to join our team. This position will be based out of our Kenton, DE office to oversee daily field operations, continue successful growth of the division and provide exceptional customer service.
The basic function of Project Manager
- Manage all construction activities on assigned projects with oversight of all field crews
- Schedule and assign daily work tasks, review daily field tickets to determine pricing and field hours worked.
- Coordinate and set up vendors / suppliers for material acquisition and price negotiation.
- Maintain contract logs and project schedules.
- Execute and track change orders.
- Communication with customer representatives, Construction Managers, and Project Managers on site to continue to build a strong working relationship.
- Safety training, development and enforcement of crews on a daily basis, ensure all crews are inspecting equipment, trucks, and tools every morning for proper and safe working conditions.
- Be ‘in the know’ on latest specifications for all scopes of work and services offered.
- Provide opinion based on observations in the field of employees to Director to help determine promotions, onboarding / terminations
- Perform advanced trade skills relating to individual projects, scheduling field crew management in conjunction with industry standards, codes and company policies, and work in with crew when necessary to expedite completion of tasks or projects.
- Attend quarterly corporate meeting to review sales, work in progress, income, and expenses
- Report directly to and work closely with the Director of Operations.
Requirements:
- This position requires travel throughout DE, MD & PA with possible trips to Western Shore MD, & NJ in company provided vehicle.
- Experience in Excavation / Site Preparation / Site Development
- Have or have the ability to obtain a DOT certification card
- MUST have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years construction experience in the field
- Minimum of 3 years field project management experience on projects in excess of $20,000.00
- 3 years upper management experience of at least 10 employees.
- Must be able to work effectively and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Computer experience is a must including proficiency with Microsoft programs
- Ability to accurately read site plans
- Must have the ability to lift 50lbs with regularity
Preferred:
- Erosion & Sediment Control experience
- Trade or Vocational school degree in construction or related field
- Estimating experience
- Sales experience
- Able to troubleshoot and fix minor equipment breakdowns
- Ability to properly and safely operate a truck with snowplow
- Bilingual – English / Spanish a huge plus
This work is primarily performed outside and is subject to extremes of temperature, humidity and weather events. There will be exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. Travel will be in all types of weather including heavy rain and below freezing temperatures with snow conditions. Position is full time, year-round work. Working hours are 6:30am until 3:30pm (work load dependent, not guaranteed) Monday - Friday. Some weekends and major Holidays may be required, including during snow events.
