Role Description This full-time, on-site Journeyman Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician role is based in New London, CT. The technician will install, maintain, and repair commercial and institutional HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, and related controls. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing system issues, performing preventive maintenance, completing service calls, and documenting work performed in accordance with company and regulatory standards. The role involves coordinating with facilities staff and other trades, responding to urgent service requests, and ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably. The technician will also inspect equipment for compliance with environmental and safety regulations and support general building systems maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including the ability to identify and resolve mechanical and control system issues.
- Experience with preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and related building systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Working knowledge of electricity and electrical components associated with HVAC systems, including safe practices and basic wiring.
- Familiarity with plumbing systems as they relate to HVAC equipment, such as boilers, chillers, condensate lines, and piping.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants and adherence to all applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Journeyman-level HVAC license or equivalent experience in commercial or institutional settings.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and building drawings.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Physical ability to perform field work, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; background check may be required.
