Role Description The Journeyman Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in New London, CT. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems and related equipment in commercial facilities. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. The technician will collaborate with other maintenance staff, interact with clients and building occupants professionally, and complete work orders and documentation accurately. The role also involves adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while supporting overall property maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong HVAC troubleshooting skills and experience diagnosing and resolving system performance issues.
- Candidates should possess plumbing skills related to HVAC and building systems, including basic repairs and installations.
- Candidates should possess preventive maintenance skills for HVAC and related building equipment, including inspections, cleaning, and scheduled service.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of EPA regulations and certifications relevant to handling refrigerants and environmental compliance.
- Candidates should possess practical electricity skills, including working with wiring, controls, and electrical components in HVAC systems.
- Journeyman-level HVAC training or licensure, or equivalent experience in commercial HVAC service and maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, and to use diagnostic tools and hand/power tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
- Reliable work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and capacity to perform physically demanding tasks.
