Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Scheduling Assistant to join our team. In this vital role, you will coordinate appointments, manage patient schedules, and support administrative operations within a busy healthcare environment. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will ensure smooth clinic workflows and exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently across multiple EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate seamless billing processes.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating records accurately.
- Manage appointment reminders via phone or electronic communication to reduce no-shows and optimize clinic flow.
- Maintain accurate documentation review of care plans, medical records, and billing information while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support front desk operations by answering multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and providing excellent patient service.
- Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Office and health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix to update schedules and manage files.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical office management or healthcare administrative support is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Experience working in clinics or dental offices with knowledge of dental terminology and office management is advantageous.
- Proficiency in typing (including 10-key), filing, and using multi-line phone systems to ensure efficient communication.
