POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating, and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations. Operates all departmental equipment. Works under general supervision. Requires 1 to 2 years of related experience and moderate Excel skills/understanding.
An excellent payroll clerk has great understanding of the concept of confidentiality. A payroll clerk will be experienced in entering data with attention to detail and will have good math skills to make the necessary calculations. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication abilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage compensation packages using payroll software
· Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
· Calculate pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime
· Manage and enter deductions
· Initiate periodical payments timely either by preparing and administering checks or making direct deposits through a bank payment system
· Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes, etc.
· Deal with questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management
· Assist in investigating and resolving any discrepancies in payroll
· Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor
· Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.
· Proven experience as payroll clerk
· Familiarity with general accounting principles
· Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with great attention to detail.
· Confidentiality is a must
· Computer savvy with working knowledge of relevant software UKG (Kronos).
· Good knowledge and understanding of Excel.
· Outstanding organizational and time management skills
· Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in problem-solving
· Self-driven on daily tasks; overall payroll team player
· Must be authorized to work in the United States
