Job Title: Industrial Automation Sales Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Industrial Automation Sales Specialist to join our team at SMC. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the sales of Rockwell Automation products and solutions to customers across various industries. You will focus on building strong relationships, identifying automation needs, and delivering tailored solutions from Rockwell Automation’s portfolio to meet clients' specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities by prospecting and reaching out to potential customers in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, oil & gas, food & beverage, and more.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key decision-makers and engineers at customer organizations, acting as their trusted advisor for all Rockwell Automation products and solutions.
  • Promote and sell Rockwell Automation products through a distributor channel, including Allen-Bradley PLCs, ControlLogix, FactoryTalk, HMI systems, motion control, and other automation technologies.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their automation challenges and recommend the best solutions from the Rockwell Automation suite to meet or exceed their goals.
  • Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions to illustrate the benefits and value of Rockwell Automation’s products and technologies.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate proposals, quotes, and contracts for customers while negotiating prices, terms, and conditions to close deals.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to post-sale support, ensuring customer satisfaction and continued business growth.
  • Provide sales forecasts, activity reports, and performance metrics to management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Stay informed on new products, emerging technologies, and market trends in industrial automation, particularly as they relate to Rockwell Automation’s offerings.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote Rockwell Automation products and solutions and strengthen the company’s position as a trusted distributor.
  • Support the integration and installation process for customers by collaborating with engineering teams and providing technical insights and support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven sales experience, ideally in industrial automation or control systems, with a focus on Rockwell Automation products.
  • Strong knowledge of Rockwell Automation solutions, including Allen-Bradley PLCs, ControlLogix, FactoryTalk, SCADA systems, motion control, and related technologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence decision-makers at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into customer-friendly solutions.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to sales, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with CRM software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and sales targets.
  • Technical background or engineering experience in automation or control systems is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a distributor or with distributor channels for Rockwell Automation or similar automation products.
  • Knowledge of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), machine learning, and predictive maintenance technologies as they relate to industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices in automation and control systems.
  • Experience working with system integrators, OEMs, and end-users to deliver complete automation solutions.

Work Environment:

  • This position may require travel to customer sites for product presentations, demos, and meetings.
  • Occasional work outside of standard business hours may be required to meet client schedules.
  • Remote work flexibility may be available depending on geographic location.
