SMC Landcare is a commercial landscape company serving HOA, commercial, and institutional properties across North Texas. We are seeking a Field Crew Leader to lead daily field operations and support high standards of quality, safety, and productivity across our maintenance, enhancement, and installation work.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who takes pride in leading people, running clean jobsites, and executing work the right way.

Position Overview

The Field Crew Leader is responsible for leading a field crew in the daily execution of landscape work according to SMC Landcare’s quality, safety, and performance standards.

This is the first level of leadership in the field. Field Crew Leaders work alongside their crews while ensuring work is completed correctly, time is tracked accurately, and communication is documented through SMC’s operating systems.

The Field Crew Leader executes the daily plan provided by Operations and serves as the key communication link between the field and management.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Development

• Lead, motivate, and develop Landscape Technicians

• Set daily expectations and assign work tasks

• Train crew members on proper techniques, safety practices, and company standards

• Promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism

Execution & Quality Control

• Execute daily work plans efficiently and accurately

• Perform hands-on work alongside the crew as needed

• Ensure work meets SMC Landcare quality standards

• Identify and correct quality issues in real time

Time Tracking & Reporting (Aspire)

• Ensure accurate daily time tracking and timesheet submission using the Aspire app

• Record job progress, site notes, and issues in Aspire

• Upload photos and required documentation

• Communicate production updates, delays, or issues to the Field Operations Manager through Aspire

Productivity & Resource Management

• Manage daily crew productivity and efficiency

• Ensure proper use of materials, tools, and equipment

• Communicate needs or constraints to Operations in a timely manner

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce safety policies and proper use of PPE

• Promote safe work practices and jobsite awareness

• Address unsafe behavior immediately

• Ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements

Equipment & Jobsite Management

• Oversee proper use and care of tools, vehicles, and equipment

• Ensure daily equipment checks are completed

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites

• Report equipment or maintenance needs promptly

What This Role Does Not Include

• Client relationship ownership or pricing discussions

• Scheduling, routing, or staffing decisions

• Estimating or material purchasing

• Independent scope changes without direction

Qualifications

Required

• Experience in landscape maintenance, enhancement, or installation

• Demonstrated leadership ability in a field environment

• Experience using mobile apps or job management systems (Aspire preferred)

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Ability to lead by example and work alongside the crew

Preferred

• Previous crew leader or supervisory experience

• Knowledge of turf, plant care, and landscape best practices

• Basic equipment and mechanical knowledge

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
