About the Role
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) will support LAN/WAN NETWORKING, Access Control, Security Camera Networking and promote SMC and its subsidiaries’ products and services while driving revenue growth across Utility/Casino Solutions and Datacom/Security Solutions. This role provides technical expertise to SMC Account Managers, inside sales teams, customers, and internal staff. The SME supports customer relationships, conducts technical demonstrations, and delivers billable services that enhance customer satisfaction and overall business performance.
Responsibilities:
The SME serves as a technical liaison between customers, sales teams, and vendor partners, providing both pre-sales and post-sales support.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support team sales objectives.
- Drive new business opportunities by assisting sales teams in competitive scenarios and promoting additional services (e.g., training programs).
- Compile product and design information for team members and customers to support quoting processes.
- Follow up on customer feedback, track performance, and report insights to internal teams.
- Provide technical expertise through customer assessments, product demonstrations, solution proposals, and training sessions.
- Travel to SMC locations and customer sites as required.
- Complete required manufacturer certification programs (e.g., FTTH, IP, CWDM, DWDM, PON, XGS, 5G, pLTE, Pelco, Bluewave, access control, casino IP surveillance, Hubbell, Leviton, and Panduit).
- Represent SMC at seminars, trade shows, conferences, and events while pursuing relevant vendor certifications.
- Collaborate with Marketing to support campaigns, digital initiatives, events, and website enhancements.
- Partners with internal teams and customers to support strategic sales efforts and project management.
- Conduct competitive analyses and prepare reports for leadership.
- Maintain technical and professional knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
- Use company software (e.g., WP CRM) to log opportunities, engagements, and maintain meeting data.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in networking, telecommunications, OSP, FTTH, broadband, fiber optics, wireless, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years in communications or related technical fields.
- Proficiency in network transport delivery, solution design, and product sets (IP services, FTTH, wireless, pLTE, etc.).
- Strong project management experience, including ROI analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint), Adobe tools, and CRM systems (e.g., WP CRM).
- Knowledge of fiber optic and IP industry standards, provisioning, and order processing.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with SMC vendor network provisioning tools.
- Valid driver’s license, background check, and drug test required.
