Job Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and advancing SmartSign's environmental, health, and safety programs across all manufacturing facilities. This role partners with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to promote a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risks, and drive continuous improvement in operations and EHS performance.

This is a full-time, on-site position requiring regular presence within manufacturing environments and frequent travel to U.S.-based facilities to conduct audits, training, inspections, investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and program implementation activities.

Responsibilities

Safety Program Management

· Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide EHS

programs, policies, and procedures.

· Conduct routine facility safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.

· Identify workplace hazards and partner with operational leadership to implement corrective and

preventive actions.

· Track and verify completion of corrective actions resulting from inspections, audits, and incident

investigations.

Regulatory Compliance

· Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, state, and local regulations.

· Assist with regulatory reporting, permit compliance, environmental recordkeeping, and

documentation requirements.

· Support facility preparedness for regulatory inspections and third-party audits.

· Monitor changes in environmental and safety regulations and communicate impacts to management.

Incident Investigation & Risk Reduction

· Lead or assist in investigations involving workplace injuries, near misses, property damage,

environmental incidents, and safety concerns.

· Perform root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans.

· Conduct Job Hazard Analyses, risk assessments, and ergonomic evaluations

· Monitor safety performance metrics and identify trends requiring corrective action.

Training & Employee Development

· Implement and deliver safety orientation, regulatory compliance training, and ongoing employee

development programs.

· Provide coaching and support to supervisors regarding safety leadership and accountability.

· Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee engagement initiatives.

· Promote employee involvement in safety committees and continuous improvement efforts.

Manufacturing Operations Support

· Work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to integrate safety into

daily operations.

· Evaluate manufacturing processes, equipment, and work practices to identify opportunities for risk

reduction.

· Support contractor safety management and ensure compliance with company requirements.

· Assist with lockout/tagout, machine guarding, confined space, respiratory protection, hearing

conservation, and other manufacturing safety programs.

· Participate in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness

· Support emergency response planning, drills, and training activities.

· Assist with maintaining emergency equipment, response procedures, and facility preparedness.

· Participate in emergency response efforts as required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Able and willing to travel up to 50% of the time.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety programs.

· Working knowledge and understanding of Cal/OSHA regulations and California-specific workplace

safety requirements.

· Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements and reporting.

· Knowledge of continuous improvement principles, Lean Manufacturing concepts, and the integration

of safety into operational excellence initiatives.

· Understanding of risk assessment methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.

· Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

· Ability to build relationships and influence employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.

· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities across various locations.


Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene,

Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

· Minimum of 2-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.

· Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance activities.

· Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations preferred.

· Experience working with California workplace safety regulations and compliance programs is

preferred.

· Experience participating in or supporting manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives, Lean

Manufacturing, Kaizen events, or operational excellence programs is preferred.

Preferred Certifications:

· OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification

· Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

· Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)

· Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

· First Aid/CPR Certification
