Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Engineer III - Network is to design and deploy network solutions to meet the requirements of core organizational functions, as well as evaluate and recommend technologies to support those needs. This individual will provide high-level support to ensure the availability, reliability, integrity, and efficient operation of enterprise systems. The Network Engineer III will apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues and drive root cause analysis in a complex enterprise environment.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage a queue of work requests to meet service levels and KPI objectives.
- Design and deploy new platforms and enhancements to existing WAN, LAN, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, and related hardware.
- Review technical requirements, establish project milestones, and estimate effort for completion.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across WAN, LAN, internet connections, and end-user systems.
- Research network products, services, protocols, and standards to stay current with industry developments.
- Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure network security and integrity.
- Perform network security audits, configuration backups, and recovery processes aligned with disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Create and maintain documentation for network standards, configurations, procedures, and cabling layouts.
- Ensure interoperability and compliance of enterprise network systems.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement solutions, monitor performance, and provide reporting on network capacity and performance.
- Respond to emergency network outages and support business continuity efforts.
- Provide recommendations to IT leadership on product/vendor selection, technology strategy, and design.
- Collaborate with systems, storage, database, and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Follow incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans for complex technical issues.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
- Coordinate with vendors, peers, and contractors on implementations and upgrades.
- Safety is an essential function of this role.
- Maintain consistent attendance, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any required certifications or licenses as required by law or company policy.
- 5 years of experience supporting enterprise networks or large data center environments.
- 5 years of experience designing and implementing Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching (Cisco IOS or data center platforms).
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Cisco, Client, Aruba, Brocade, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Bluecoat, Infoblox, SolarWinds, or F5.
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., MICS, PCI, SOX).
- Experience with ITSM practices.
- Strong project management and prioritization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams and implement network configurations accordingly.
- Working knowledge of LAN/WAN systems and large-scale network deployments.
- Experience with dynamic routing protocols and network design.
- Strong understanding of OSI model, TCP/IP, IPv4, and working knowledge of IPv6.
- Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
- Experience with monitoring tools, alerting, and performance management.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault isolation, and network mapping skills.
- Relevant industry certifications preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across diverse teams.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
