The Data Manager will serve as a subject matter expert, coordinating the use and movement of data within the organization. The Data Manager will be a leader driving SmartBank’s data and AI transformation, consolidating siloed systems into a unified platform and ensuring governance. Day-to-day responsibilities involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize critical data needs, ensuring data is of good quality, well-protected, effectively integrated and utilized across the organization. This role will ensure data serves as a trusted asset, empowering decision-making and innovation. This role’s leadership will be crucial in fostering a data-driven culture supporting the organization's growth and competitive advantage.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Upholds SmartBank Core Values and Core Purpose.

  • Manage the Data Analytics team, collaborate with the Data Governance Lead, and Executive Champions.
  • Oversee consolidation of siloed data and analytics capabilities across the entire organization to improve insights for organizational leadership and decision making through the use of an enterprise analytics platform.
  • Responsible for developing a Data Quality program, defining critical elements, implementing automated quality checks, building DQ dashboards, and running root-cause analysis on recurring data entry issues.
  • Oversee data integrations and API connectivity of applications.
  • Communicate data strategies and project information to key stakeholders.
  • Champion the benefits of an organization wide data culture and literacy.
  • Assist in development and management of AI powered solutions.
  • Contribute recommendations toward selection and implementation of AI platforms across the enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance with the changing laws and applicable regulations.
  • Assist in risk assessments of data infrastructure and processes. Provide recommendations to continually mitigate identified risks.
  • Lead the implementation of data technologies and tools across the organization to improve efficiencies and information effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify data needs and work with others to develop solutions.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and analytics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems or relevant field.
  • 5 years of experience in data management, analytics, or business intelligence, preferably within the financial services sector
  • Proficient in data architecture, data warehousing, data visualization tools, cloud data platforms, APIs, Microsoft SQL Server, and financial reporting.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be capable of handling confidential information in a trustworthy manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills both in person and over the phone.
  • Detail oriented and ability to function in a team environment.
  • Add Azure and Databricks (or equivalent cloud data platforms) as required or strongly preferred.
  • ETL/ELT pipeline design and data integration experience.
  • Power BI (or equivalent modern BI tool).
  • data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage.
  • AI/ML governance fundamentals (responsible AI, model validation).
  • Financial reporting terms and understanding of balance sheets, departmental budgeting, and other accounting related information.
  • Must be able to prioritize and organize daily workflow.
  • Ability to apply experience, knowledge and sound judgment in decision-making using established guidelines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Must exhibit a high level of adaptability to organizational and technological change.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Able to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.


Work Conditions:

  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Frequent and regularly required movements using wrists, hand and/or fingers.
  • Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • May be required to Travel.
