What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audit Manager position at Smart4 Energy?
I’m hiring an Audit Manager (on behalf of a really great CPA firm)
I’m working with a growing CPA firm in Shelton, CT that’s looking for an experienced Audit Manager to join their team.
Honestly, this is a really solid opportunity if you’re at that stage where you want more ownership in your work, more say in how things run, and a team that actually supports each other.
What the role looks like
You’d be leading audit engagements from start to finish — not just reviewing from a distance, but actually being involved, working with clients, and guiding the team.
It’s a mix of:
- managing multiple audits
- reviewing financials and making sure everything is on track
- mentoring junior staff (they really value this)
- building strong client relationships
- getting involved in the bigger picture of the firm
What they’re hoping to find
Someone who’s confident in their audit experience but still down-to-earth and easy to work with:
- Around 7 years in audit
- CPA (or close to it)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Comfortable leading engagements and making decisions
- Good with people — both clients and internal teams
Why it’s worth a conversation
What stood out to me about this firm is the culture. It’s not rigid or overly corporate — it’s collaborative, supportive, and people tend to stay.
They offer:
- Good benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.)
- Flexibility outside of busy season
- Summer hours
- A genuinely team-oriented environment
- Room to grow without being micromanaged
Quick reality check
Like any audit role, busy season (Feb–April) can get intense — but they do try to give that time back where they can.
