Job Title: Data Payroll Technician (ATU-Clerical Represented)

General Summary
Under direct supervision, the Data Payroll Technician prepares weekly payroll at a terminal.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares weekly payroll in accordance with union contract provisions.
- Computes wages and posts wage data to payroll records from timecards, subtracting deductions such as income tax withholdings, social security payments, union dues.
- Posts accounts receivable and makes bank deposits.
- Maintains employee vacation, sick and personal leave banks in accordance with union contract provisions.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Two (2) years bookkeeping or payroll experience at a medium size organization.
- Experience with manual and computerized payroll systems.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
- Ability to operate a desktop calculator.
- Proficient in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to interpret union contract agreements regarding pay provisions.
