About the Role
The Yard Mule Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within the yard of a warehouse. Using a yard tractor (mule), the driver will position trailers at dock doors for loading/unloading and relocate them as needed to optimize yard flow and operations.
Hourly Rate
Starting $20.00
Description
- Operate yard truck to move trailers between dock doors and staging areas
- Accurately spot trailers to assigned locations for inbound or outbound loading
- Inspect yard tractor and trailers before each use to ensure safety and functionality
- Track trailer movements via handheld device or yard management system (YMS)
- Communicate with dispatchers, warehouse teams, and security on trailer status
- Maintain yard cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations
Experience & Skills
- Experience operating yard mules, terminal tractors, or similar equipment preferred
- Ability to safely back trailers into tight dock doors and maneuver in congested yards
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and on your feet for long periods
- Basic understanding of yard operations, trailer types, and shipping documents
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid CDL License
Work Schedule:
- Full-time; 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Weekend or overtime availability may be required depending on volume
