SMART Safety Gulf Coast is seeking a Site Safety Manager to support one of our clients on a construction project in Gladstone, Missouri. This is a full-time, onsite position where you will lead safety initiatives, ensure compliance, and foster a strong safety culture on behalf of both Smart Safety Gulf Coast and the client. This job is expected to be 40 hours per week, with 80% of the time working first shift, and 20% of the time working second shift. This project assignment is expected to last 4* months* with the potential for an extension
What It's Like to Be a Site Safety Manager at SMART Safety
As a Site Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and enforcing safety protocols on site, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and client requirements. You will maintain accurate safety documentation, conduct orientations, and lead safety meetings and training sessions. You'll collaborate closely with client project managers to integrate safety measures into construction practices while representing Smart Safety Gulf Coast professionally.
Qualifications
- OSHA 500 or Equivalent BCSP Designation (Required).
- At Least Four (4) years’ experience in Construction Safety (Preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction regulations, local safety laws, and regulatory agencies.
- Recent experience serving as the dedicated safety resource at a job site.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and implement solutions.
- Comfortable climbing a large amount of steps, standing/walking for extended periods, and working at heights.
Essential Functions
- Conduct and support New Employment Orientation (NEO) safety briefings
- Support implementation and oversight of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Coordinate and facilitate recurring safety meetings and attend leadership meetings
- Provide day-to-day support to site leadership regarding safety observations and concerns
- Maintain safety documentation, training records, and compliance tracking
- Identify and assess work practices and conditions that may cause injury, property damage, environmental impact, or loss of company resources
- Evaluate risk (probability and potential consequences) associated with identified work practices and conditions
- Communicate safety and loss-prevention information to the client’s management team as appropriate
- Monitor, measure, and evaluate effectiveness of safety and loss-prevention efforts
- Support investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses resulting in or having the potential to result in injury or property damage
- Support initiation and implementation of programs to achieve short- and long-term site safety goals
- Enforce heat stress program
