Warehouse Receiver (1st shift)

The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt of materials into the pharmaceutical distribution center. This position verifies incoming shipments against required documentation, inspects materials for damage or discrepancies, and completes receiving transactions in SAP.

The position requires previous hands-on receiving experience and a strong focus on inventory accuracy, documentation, and compliance with established warehouse procedures. Experience in a pharmaceutical or other regulated environment is preferred.

Shift Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm EST (must have flexibility to work Overtime based on business need)

Principle Accountabilities

• Receive and verify inbound shipments against Bills of Lading (BOL), packing lists, purchase orders, and other required documentation.
• Verify material numbers, quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, pallet counts, and other required information prior to completing the receipt.
• Inspect trailers and incoming materials for damage, moisture, unusual odors, contamination concerns, or other unacceptable conditions.
• Inspect pallets and product during unloading and immediately identify shortages, overages, damage, or documentation discrepancies.
• Perform accurate goods receipt and inventory transactions in SAP.
• Ensure physical material received matches both supporting documentation and SAP information.
• Maintain complete and accurate receiving records.
• Properly identify and segregate damaged, questionable, or nonconforming materials and notify the appropriate personnel.
• Communicate receiving discrepancies to Inventory Control, Quality, Logistics, Purchasing, or other appropriate departments.
• Ensure received materials are properly identified and staged for put-away.
• Follow established SOPs, cGMP requirements, safety procedures, security requirements, and pharmaceutical warehouse practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving dock and staging area.
• Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
• Support inventory counts and discrepancy investigations when required
  
  

Management Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory or management responsibilities. The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for the accuracy of assigned receiving activities and is expected to stop and escalate a receipt when materials, quantities, lot information, documentation, or product condition do not meet established requirements.

Warehouse Distribution Manager

Internal/External Contacts

Internal: Regular interaction with Warehouse Operations, Inventory Control, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, and other departments as needed to coordinate inbound receipts and resolve inventory or documentation discrepancies.

External: Routine interaction with truck drivers, carriers, freight providers, and delivery personnel regarding inbound shipments, shipment documentation, seal verification, damages, shortages, and other receiving-related issues.

Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of warehouse receiving processes and inventory control practices.
• Ability to accurately read and verify BOLs, packing lists, purchase orders, and other receiving documentation.
• Working knowledge of SAP or a comparable ERP/WMS system; SAP experience strongly preferred.
• Understanding of lot-controlled and expiration-dated inventory.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
• Ability to identify receiving discrepancies and communicate issues clearly.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to follow written SOPs and established work instructions.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Forklift and material-handling equipment experience preferred.
  
  

Experience & Education

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous warehouse receiving experience required.
• SAP receiving/inventory transaction experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, medical, food, or another regulated distribution/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience handling lot-controlled and expiration-dated materials preferred.
• Forklift experience or certification preferred but not required.
• General picking, packing, or shipping experience alone does not substitute for the required receiving experience.
  
  

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Ability to work in a warehouse and receiving dock environment for extended periods.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform routine warehouse material-handling activities.
• Ability to safely lift 70 lbs. and handle materials consistent with company-established lifting requirements.
• Ability to work around forklifts, pallet jacks, trucks, trailers, racking, and other warehouse equipment.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all warehouse safety requirements.
