Sheet Metal Workers Local 4 is a labor union representing skilled sheet metal professionals throughout Memphis and the surrounding region. Our members specialize in fabricating and installing sheet metal systems for commercial and industrial construction projects.

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced, dependable, and motivated Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanics and Journeypersons with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and installation.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience installing commercial ductwork, interpreting construction drawings, and working safely and productively on commercial or industrial construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and install commercial and industrial sheet metal ductwork, fittings, and related components.
• Install ventilation systems, dampers, hangers, supports, and associated sheet metal products.
• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
• Measure, lay out, cut, form, and fit sheet metal components.
• Perform field modifications and adjustments as necessary.
• Operate sheet metal hand tools, power tools, and related construction equipment.
• Follow established safety procedures and applicable construction standards.
• Work effectively with other trades and crew members while maintaining quality workmanship and productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or industrial sheet metal fabrication and installation.
• Five years of relevant experience preferred; equivalent training and hands-on experience will be considered.
• Journeyperson status or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program preferred but not required.
• Ability to read construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Familiarity with sheet metal tools, installation techniques, and jobsite safety practices.
• Dependable transportation to commercial and industrial jobsites throughout the Memphis area and surrounding region.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Additional Jobsite Requirements

• Certain projects may require successful completion of a background check as a condition of jobsite access.
• OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training may be required depending on the project or contractor.
• Applicants who do not currently hold OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction training credentials are still encouraged to apply.
• Applicants must meet applicable pre-employment requirements, including a 10-panel drug screening when required.
