Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and fabrication, with the ability to read blueprints and schematics effectively. This role involves working with various materials and tools to create, install, and repair sheet metal products in a variety of settings, including commercial and residential projects.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components according to specifications and blueprints
- Install sheet metal products such as ducts, gutters, and roofing systems
- Perform repairs on existing sheet metal installations as needed
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Collaborate with other tradespeople on construction sites to ensure project completion
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols
- Assist with other construction tasks as required, including plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry
Experience
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding schematics is essential
- Experience with fabrication techniques and methods related to sheet metal work
- Familiarity with construction management processes and estimating practices is a plus
- Previous experience in construction site environments is preferred
- Skills in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation are necessary
- Knowledge of additional trades such as plumbing, electrical work, masonry, or flooring installation is beneficial
- Ability to perform tasks related to concrete forming, plastering, roofing, caulking, trim carpentry, stucco application, glass installation, cabinet installation, frame carpentry, door hanging, construction painting, concrete finishing, remodeling, welding, tile laying is an asset
