About the Role
Avera Heart Hospital is seeking compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) to join its Inpatient Mixed Acuity Unit. This unique unit is designed to care for patients across varying levels of acuity without requiring patient transfers between units. Nurses gain valuable experience caring for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular patients while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Position Highlights

Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patient progress and respond to changing conditions.
- Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Supervise and delegate patient care activities to support staff.
- Ensure safe, high-quality patient care and accurate documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
- Active RN License or eligibility through a Nursing Compact state.
- Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
- BLS Certification required within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Adult Acute Care Experience.
- Cardiology or Cardiovascular Nursing Experience.
- PCU, Telemetry, Step-Down, Cardiac, or Progressive Care Unit experience.
Additional Certifications
- ACLS required within one year for applicable departments.
- PALS or ENPC required within one year for Emergency Department nurses.
