Job Summary:
Grant Thornton LLP is seeking an experienced Partnership Taxation Senior Manager to lead complex tax compliance, consulting, and advisory engagements focused on partnership taxation. This leadership role will oversee client engagements, provide technical guidance on sophisticated partnership structures, mentor teams, and drive business development initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in Subchapter K partnership taxation, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to quickly become an actionable leader managing complex engagements within a fast-paced public accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Advisory:
- Lead primary and secondary review of complex partnership tax returns
- Provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services for partnership clients
- Evaluate partnership agreements and manage IRC 704(b) accounts
- Advise clients on partnership structuring, entity formation, and M&A tax matters
- Research and consult on complex federal and state tax issues
- Respond to IRS and tax authority inquiries as needed
Client Engagement Management:
- Oversee multiple client engagements across diverse industries
- Deliver innovative tax planning solutions and compliance strategies
- Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and quality standards
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying growth opportunities
- Lead proposals, pursuit activities, and business development initiatives
Leadership & Team Development:
- Manage, mentor, train, and develop tax professionals
- Conduct performance reviews and support succession planning
- Foster collaboration, technical excellence, and team growth
- Support recruiting and talent development initiatives
Requirements (Must-Have):
- Active CPA in Texas or eligible reciprocity to Texas
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 10 years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
- Strong expertise in Subchapter K Partnership Taxation
- Experience with partnership returns, joint ventures, and non-corporate entity taxation
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and tax accounting technology
- Ability to manage multiple complex engagements in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public accounting background (Big 4 or Top 15 preferred)
- Experience with clients in $50M–$1B revenue range
- Experience with partnership structuring, M&A, and entity formation
- Industry exposure across retail, hospitality, technology, manufacturing, financial services, B2B/B2C
- Strong tenure stability (no frequent job changes preferred)
- Ability to step into leadership quickly within 3–6 months
