Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Garage Door Technician. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing installations, adjustments, and repairs on commercial and residential garage doors, access systems, and related hardware. Daily tasks include coordinating with dispatch and facility managers, scheduling and documenting service calls, ordering or verifying parts, and ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems, conducting routine maintenance, and providing clear communication to customers about findings, recommendations, and timelines. Technicians are expected to follow company procedures, maintain accurate records, and support 24/7 emergency service coverage as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills in installing, repairing, and maintaining garage doors, door operators, and related hardware.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and access control issues using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
- Knowledge of safety standards, building codes, and best practices for working with industrial doors, dock equipment, and commercial facilities.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for working with facility managers, property managers, and operations teams.
- Solid organizational skills, including accurate documentation of service work, remote coordination, and time management.
- Comfort with using mobile devices and basic software for remote work, service tickets, and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; ability to travel to job sites as required.
- Previous experience as a garage door technician, maintenance technician, or in a related trade (construction, electrical, or mechanical) is highly beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certifications in door systems or access systems are a plus.
