Job Summary
The Lead Aerial Lineman is a specialty-trained expert in constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground fiber and coax plant. This role leads field crews—both aerial and underground—and works closely with Construction Supervisors and Engineers to complete projects safely, accurately, and efficiently.
A successful Lead Lineman brings deep practical knowledge of RF and fiber networks, including system makeup, troubleshooting techniques, equipment operations, and new-build construction standards. This is a leadership-level field position with responsibility for safety, productivity, and crew performance.

- Minimum experience: 5 years as a Lineman and 3 years as a Foreman (references required)
Responsibilities
- Ensure all assigned equipment is in proper working condition and charged daily
- Complete all assigned work accurately, safely, and on schedule
- Track hours, mileage, and job documentation daily
- Maintain assigned company vehicle, including:
- – Performing initial and monthly inspections– Keeping the vehicle clean and organized– Safe and responsible driving at all times– Reporting maintenance issues promptly– Refueling before reaching ¼ tank– Securing the fuel card and reporting loss/theft immediately
- Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather, terrain, and lighting conditions
- Ability to work near power lines and electrical hazards
- Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, chemicals, insects, and vegetation
- Must remain within equipment weight-limit requirements
- Ability to repeatedly climb, carry, and work on extension ladders
- Ability to measure accurately using tapes and other tools
- Clear verbal communication with customers and team members
- Ability to lift 50–80 pounds throughout the day
- Ability to work in confined spaces with bending, twisting, and reaching
Primary Duties
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE
- Operate vehicles and specialty equipment as certified (line truck, bucket truck, reel equipment, saws, drills)
- Work in manholes, verify conduit integrity, and proof conduit systems
- Rod and rope conduit systems
- Tow various trailers safely and confidently
- Provide support during all phases of construction activity
- Construct and repair overhead and underground fiber and RF systems
- Read and build from design schematic maps
- Safely climb poles using appropriate climbing gear
- Work in accordance with NESC, GO95, and GO128 standards
- Lead crews through daily tasks while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency
