Registered Dietitian
We are currently seeking a part-time, Registered Dietitian to join our Rhode Island team supporting children from birth to adult with a variety of diagnoses. Previous pediatric experience with feeding therapy and treating nutritional deficiencies is a plus!
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' nutritional needs and develop personalized recommendations based on their dietary requirements and health goals.
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, including guidance on healthy eating habits, portion control, and meal preparation.
- Monitor patients' progress and make adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, and the multidisciplinary team at Small Steps Therapy LLC, to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Work within a multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment setting.
- Conduct evaluations to identify nutritional deficiencies or health conditions that may require specialized diets or interventions.
- Provide health coaching to patients and families, offering support and guidance in achieving their nutrition-related goals.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
- Provide guidance on tube feeding for patients who require enteral nutrition support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition at an accredited institution with course work accredited or approved by the appropriate nutrition and dietetics agencies
- Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Earn and maintain applicable certifications, registrations, licenses, credentials and continuing education requirements by the appropriate accredited agencies.
-Must hold current state licensure in Rhode Island.
- Knowledge of human physiology and how it relates to nutrition and health.
- Understanding of medical terminology and the ability to interpret lab results related to nutrition.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively educate and motivate patients.
- Ability to assess patients' nutritional needs through patient assessments and medical history reviews.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems for documentation purposes.
