Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Sterilization Technician to support our healthcare team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and procedural workflows, including patient care, sterilization processes, and administrative support. Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments according to strict infection control protocols.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including recording vital signs and updating electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Support patient care activities by providing clear instructions, ensuring comfort, and addressing patient questions professionally.
- Manage sterilization equipment and supplies, ensuring all tools are properly cleaned, disinfected, and stored for safe use.
- Assist with clinical procedures such as X-ray imaging, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) when required.
- Document patient interactions accurately using medical terminology and ICD coding for billing and record-keeping purposes.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, including Level I Trauma Center standards or Level II Trauma Center protocols when applicable.
- Support administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and insurance documentation to enhance clinic efficiency.
Skills
- Knowledge of dermatology, urgent care procedures, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine practices.
- Experience with outpatient and inpatient settings within hospital or clinic environments.
- Familiarity with EHR systems, ICD coding, anatomy knowledge, physiology concepts, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and support medication administration processes.
- Strong understanding of sterilization techniques for surgical instruments and OR experience preferred.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
- Background in medical-surgical nursing or internal medicine is advantageous; Level I or Level II trauma center experience highly valued.
