We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our dental team. This position involves the cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of dental instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and regulations.
Duties
- Perform cleaning and sterilization of dental instruments using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of treatment rooms for various dental procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
- Monitor inventory levels of sterilization supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary.
- Collaborate with dental assistants to ensure efficient workflow during patient procedures, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Stay updated on best practices in infection control and aseptic techniques to enhance patient safety.
- Provide chairside assistance as needed, including taking vital signs and assisting with medical imaging procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in dental terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical documentation practices, medical coding, and maintaining medical records is highly desirable.
- Understanding of anatomy knowledge related to dental procedures is essential.
- Experience with 3D scanners and X-ray technology is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
