Job Summary
We’re looking for a shift-leading barista who genuinely loves the craft — someone who takes pride in great coffee, smooth service, and creating moments that make people feel at home. In this role, you’ll lead the bar during your shift, prepare high-quality drinks, support your teammates, and help keep the café running with intention and consistency. You’ll be part of the crew building a new neighborhood staple in East Meadow.
What you’ll do
- Lead the floor during your shift — set the pace, assign tasks, and keep service flowing during busy periods.
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso drinks, teas, and seasonal beverages with consistency, care, and proper technique.
- Deliver warm, attentive customer service — take orders accurately, build relationships, and resolve concerns with professionalism.
- Open or close the café depending on the schedule, following checklists to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Operate our POS system (Square) quickly and accurately during rushes.
- Maintain a clean, organized bar and café area — wiping, restocking, keeping pastry displays neat, and following food-safety standards.
- Support inventory and waste tracking, including monitoring beans, milk, pastries, and supplies.
- Work closely with the baking team to coordinate product flow, freshness, and presentation.
- Train and support new team members on bar routines, recipes, and service style.
- Model reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude to help cultivate a healthy, supportive work culture.
Basic qualifications
- Previous barista experience required (specialty coffee preferred).
- Ability to lead a small team during a shift with confidence and clarity.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to stay calm and efficient during a rush.
- Excellent communication skills with both guests and coworkers.
- Comfortable following recipes, dialing in espresso, and maintaining quality across drinks.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience as a shift lead or keyholder in a café or restaurant.
- Familiarity with Square POS or similar systems.
- Knowledge of food-safety guidelines and best practices.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and teach others.
