Custodial Worker Job Description
Title: Custodian Worker
Qualifications: As determined by the Smackover Norphlet School District
Reports to: Custodial Manager/Principal
Start Date:Possibly June 1, 2027 or August 1, 2027
General Job Responsibilities
Serve as a Custodian for the custodial department for the Smackover Norphlet School District. Provides daily custodial services for an assigned campus. The Custodian I will work with the custodial staff on campus to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and staff and compliance with school policies, standards and regulatory agency codes.
Custodial Duties and Responsibilities
Carries out all duties as assigned by the Custodial Manager.
Complies with the Smackover-Norphlet School District Expectations of Employees and Chain of Command.
Will be responsible for an area on campus.
Will be responsible for ensuring campus buildings are ready for the school day.
Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
May assist or perform minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
Requires the ability to lift and carry custodial supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.
Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered cleaning equipment and machines.
Will perform other duties as assigned by the Custodial Manager and Special Programs Director.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Prefer experience in the custodial field.
Knowledge of standard custodial procedures and practices.
